Abby Spector competed in over 750 rounds of competitive golf before the age of 22. She is in the Maine Golf Hall of Fame and the Maine Sports Hall of Fame not only as a result of her impressive amateur and collegiate success on the golf course but also due to her dedication to growing the game of golf.
Abby graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a full golf scholarship. She holds the following titles:
Abby became a Professional Golf Association Member in 2013 and is currently the Director of Instruction at Riverside Golf Course. She was voted Golf Digest's Best Teacher in Maine for 2019-20.
Spector golf welcomes Katy Heskett as a new instructor! Katy has been competing in golf tournaments since she was a junior golfer. In 2007 she finished her senior year of high school playing number one on her golf team and winning the High School State Championship as well as the Women's Amateur Championship in her home state of Delaware. From there she moved on to play her Freshman year at Methodist University. Katy joins Spectorgolf after coaching the Cape Elizabeth High School team from 2017-2020 and is currently enrolled in the LPGA Teaching Education Program. Katy has a passion for growing the game of golf for women here in Maine and her tournament golf experience will benefit those golfers looking to play at a higher level.

Spectorgolf in Portland offers clinics for golfers of all ages and abilities! See below to choose which clinic fits you best based on your age and ability.
All instruction takes place on the 3-hole practice course at Riverside Golf Course. The facility includes three 100 yard holes, 4 practice bunkers and a 1200 square foot putting and chipping green.
Whether you're just starting out or are an experienced golfer, private lessons are the best way to improve! Available by appointment.
This 5 week clinic will focus on the fundamentals of the 5 parts of the game of golf: putting, chipping, full swing, rules/etiquette, and on-course experience. Golf clubs are provided during clinic.
A beginner program developed to introduce women to the game of golf. The program will focus on basic fundamentals in a fun and social atmosphere. A glass of wine following the clinic is included in the fee. 15 women per session. Register by emailing Abby Spector at email@example.com.

This program is designed as a "Level 2" Wine and Nine for women who want a refresher of the fundamentals as they begin golfing this year. This clinic will take place primarily out on the golf course. This 6 week program is pure fun! Our most popular program, it introduces kids to golf with fun interactive games. Some on-course experience. Sign up early, this program fills fast!
This program is designed to get boys and girls interested in golf. It is a beginner/intermediate program. The program covers basic fundamentals of the game and includes on course experience.
The PGA Junior League is designed to better socialize the game for boys and girls ages 9-13. It features team vs. team competitions in a structured league that provides a fun, less stressful scramble format as opposed to stroke play competition. Includes: one practice/week, 5 competitive matches, two jerseys , a hat, membership to the South Course at Riverside valid for the entire season starting the day you register for the PGA Junior League and one private lesson from Abby Spector.
The High School Prep Clinic is designed for kids who have aged out of the PGA junior League and for older kids who are preparing for high school team tryouts. This program includes: two clinics/week, , membership to the South Course at Riverside starting on the day you register for the clinic and valid for the entire 2021season and one private lesson from Abby Spector.
$20 per child. A short golf clinic on the Riverside 3-hole course followed by some fun interactive golf games. Tables and chairs on site. Indoor area for cake. Gifts available if needed. All golf equipment provided, bring your own cake. Book in advance by contacting Abby Spector.
