Abby Spector

PGA Certified Instructor

Abby Spector competed in over 750 rounds of competitive golf before the age of 22. She is in the Maine Golf Hall of Fame and the Maine Sports Hall of Fame not only as a result of her impressive amateur and collegiate success on the golf course but also due to her dedication to growing the game of golf.

Abby graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a full golf scholarship. She holds the following titles:

  • Pine Needles NCAA Division 1 Intercollegiate Champion 2002
  • 7- time Maine Women’s Amateur Golf Champion.
  • 2001 New England Women’s Amateur Champion.
  • 4-time Maine Schoolgirl Champion

Abby became a Professional Golf Association Member in 2013 and is currently the Director of Instruction at Riverside Golf Course. She has been voted one of Golf Digest’s Best Teachers in Maine from  2019-2024. Abby is also the former Director of Women’s Golf at Bates College in Maine.

Katy Heskett

LPGA Certified Instructor

Spectorgolf is excited to welcome Katy Heskett back for her fifth year as one of our instructors. Katy is an LPGA class A teaching professional and has been competing in golf tournaments since she was a junior golfer. In 2007 she finished her senior year of high school playing number one on her golf team and winning the High School State Championship as well as the Women’s Amateur Championship in her home state of Delaware. From there she moved on to play collegiate golf at Methodist University. Katy joins Spectorgolf after coaching the Cape Elizabeth High School team from 2017-2020. She has a passion for growing the game of golf for women here in Maine and her tournament golf experience will benefit those golfers looking to play at a higher level. Katy gives golf lessons on the simulators at Throttle Car Club in Scarborough during the winter months.

Jim Fairbanks

PGA Certified Instructor

Spectorgolf  welcomes Jim Fairbanks, a 28 year veteran in the golf business. Jim is coming to us from Nonesuch River Golf Course in Scarborough. Here is a note from Jim:

There is nothing more satisfying to me than the look on someone’s face when they hit a shot that they didn’t think they could. Sometimes the perception is that the golf swing is very complicated but I don’t believe that it needs to be. I’d like to help you simplify your golf game.
